The Sofitel Stephansdom was completed by Jean Nouvel in 2010 — a glass tower on the Danube Canal side of the Praterstraße with 182 rooms and, on the 18th floor, the Le Loft restaurant whose ceiling carries a permanent Pipilotti Rist light installation and whose floor-to-ceiling windows face the Stephansdom across the canal. The view from Le Loft is the most cinematic Stephansdom angle in the city.
Book a higher floor on the cathedral side, take the dinner at Le Loft on arrival night with the Rist ceiling lit at 21h. The Praterstraße position is twelve minutes' walk from the Stephansplatz across the canal.
