The Sacher has run on Philharmonikerstraße behind the State Opera since 1876 as the Sacher family operation, and remains the canonical Vienna address — the bordeaux carpets, the Klimt and Schiele commissions in the corridors, the café on the ground floor that holds the queue for the Sachertorte and the regulars who skip it. The 151 rooms are the most central in the city; the position between the Opera and the Albertina is the actual asset.
