On the photographs

The Bee Life is an independent editorial journal. The photographs on these pages come from three places.

From the houses themselves. Most images are the press photographs the hotels, restaurants and clubs publish on their own sites — used here to illustrate editorial writing about those same addresses, with credit to the house and no commercial arrangement between us.

From Wikimedia Commons. A number of the architectural and city images are drawn from Wikimedia Commons, reproduced under their respective licences.

From Unsplash. Where no photograph of the subject exists, an evocative image is used, credited on the page itself.

A small number of images are generated, and are marked as such where they appear.

We publish out of admiration, never in place of the house’s own voice. If you own an image here and would prefer a different credit — or its removal — write to us and it will be done, without discussion.
