On the photographs

Beesy is an independent editorial journal. The photographs on these pages come from three places.

From the houses themselves. We use official press photographs only when an editorial licence or written permission can be verified. A photograph being visible on a website or social feed does not, by itself, make it reusable.

From Wikimedia Commons. A number of the architectural and city images are drawn from Wikimedia Commons, reproduced under their respective licences.

From licensed libraries. Wikimedia Commons, Unsplash and other libraries are used according to their licence, and only when the image truthfully illustrates the subject or destination described.

Original editorial illustrations may accompany general guides and essays. They are marked as generated and never presented as documentary photographs of a real venue, person or event.

We publish out of admiration, never in place of the house’s own voice. If you own an image here and would prefer a different credit — or its removal — write to us and it will be done, without discussion.
