China Tang opened in The Dorchester basement in 2005 as Sir David Tang's London Cantonese — the Shanghai-deco design, the dim sum at lunch, the Peking duck at dinner, the cigar bar that holds the regulars through midnight. The room remains the older-money answer to the louder Mayfair Chinese restaurants and is the address for the dinner with parents.
Book the lunch for dim sum, the dinner for the Peking duck and the lobster noodles. The cigar bar after the meal is the actual reason the regulars book at 21h.
