Figlmüller opened on Wollzeile in 1905 and has remained for four generations the canonical address for the Wiener Schnitzel pounded so thin it extends past the rim of the plate — the dish that the tourist guides photograph and the locals still order. The Wollzeile original is the smaller room; the Bäckerstraße sister handles the overflow. Both run the same kitchen.
Book the lunch on a weekday at 12h to avoid the queue, take the Schnitzel with the potato salad and the Grüner Veltliner. The portion does not require a starter.
