Fabios opened on Tuchlauben in 2002 and has run for two decades as the canonical Vienna Italian-business-lunch — the long bar at the entrance, the dining room behind, the kitchen handling the Northern Italian register that the Vienna corporate clientele defaults to. The terrace in the square handles the summer service; the bar holds the post-dinner regulars until late.
Book the lunch on a Thursday at 13h, take the carpaccio and the homemade pasta, drink a Tuscan red. The dinner is the calmer evening; the bar is the late drink.
