The old Baron's Cove closed in October for a top-to-bottom renovation and reopens this summer as Faraway Sag Harbor with a new Amalfi restaurant called Zagara and a softer, more European hand on the interiors. The location is the reason to book — five minutes on foot to Main Street, to Le Bilboquet on the wharf, and to The American Hotel for dinner. The pool is small but the harbour view from the upper rooms is the one in the village.
For wedding-party overflow this is the obvious second hotel — Topping Rose for the inner circle, Faraway for everyone else. Book a harbour-view room on the third or fourth floor and ask for one of the suites if you are travelling as a couple.
