The Little Nell is the only address in Aspen that puts you on the gondola in your ski boots without setting foot on a sidewalk — and that single fact justifies the price difference over every other hotel in town. The 92 rooms are the most consistently well-kept in the Rockies, the ski desk program is the gold standard for North American mountain hotels, and the Ajax Tavern terrace at the base of the mountain is the après-ski room that everyone in town tries to get a table at.
For honeymoons and significant birthdays in winter this is the only room I book in Aspen. Junior Suite with the mountain view, dinner at Element 47 on the first night, the gondola in the morning, the Ajax terrace at two for the lunch that runs into après. In summer the property is just as serious — the X Games and the Aspen Music Festival are both walking distance.
