Ayala Polo Club

The second of Sotogrande's polo institutions — the Ayala grounds at San Enrique de Guadiaro, run by the Pieres family and home to the medium and low handicap circuit.

Ayala is Santa María's quieter sister — opened in 1992 by Iñigo Zobel, now run by the Pieres dynasty of Argentine polo, and home to the medium- and low-goal calendar that runs in parallel to Santa María's high-goal August. Ten fields across the property, a school that operates year-round, and a clubhouse with the kind of asado the family of four can actually book without a member's introduction.

Take a lesson at the school on the first morning, watch the medium-goal final at six o'clock, asado after. The format works for the family wanting to learn the game rather than only watch it.

Book it for the school and the medium-goal.
