Al Fassia

Founded by the Chab sisters in 1985 — the only serious Marrakech kitchen entirely run by women, three generations on.

Al Fassia — "the women of Fez" — was founded in 1985 by the Chab sisters, Myra and Saida, around a single idea: a Moroccan restaurant cooked and served entirely by women, trained on the premises in the dishes of the Fassi kitchen their mother knew by heart. Forty years later the model has held, and the family still runs both addresses while training the next round of kitchen and floor staff.

The dishes that travel are the lamb tagine with prunes, the chicken with preserved lemons, the pigeon pastilla. Reserve the Guéliz house for the calmer room, order the seven-salad starter, and pace the meal — the portions are larger than the menu suggests.

The traditional Moroccan dinner that comes with a story.
