- 20 Queen Street, Mayfair
- 1★ Michelin (held continuously since 2001)
- North Indian and Mughlai kitchen
- Open lunch and dinner, year round
Tamarind opened on Queen Street in 1994 and became, in 2001, the first Indian restaurant in the world to be awarded a Michelin star — which it has held continuously since. The kitchen runs the North Indian and Mughlai tradition with the technical register required by the room. The basement setting is intimate, the service is formal, the dinner is the right address for the introduction to high-end Indian.
Book the dinner at 20h, take the chef's tasting menu, drink Riesling. The lunch is the more reliable booking; the dinner books out three weeks ahead.
The Indian that defined the category at the star.
