Scott's Mayfair

Caprice Holdings' Mount Street seafood institution — the green leather banquettes, the oyster bar, the lunch that the Mayfair art dealers default to.

Scott's was founded in 1851 and bought by Caprice Holdings in 2005, who restored the green leather banquettes and the central oyster bar that the Mount Street room is built around. The clientele is the Mayfair art and finance regulars at lunch and the gallery openings at dinner; the kitchen does seafood at the level the address requires; the pavement terrace in summer is the most useful table in Mayfair.

Book the lunch on a Thursday, take the dressed crab and the Dover sole grilled, sit at the oyster bar if alone. The dinner is louder than the lunch.
