La Famiglia

Alvaro Maccioni's World's End institution — Tuscan-Italian cooking, the courtyard garden, the Chelsea lunch the family has run since 1975.

La Famiglia opened on Langton Street in 1975 as Alvaro Maccioni's Chelsea Italian and has stayed in the family since — the World's End local where the walled courtyard garden is the table in summer and the wood-panelled front room handles the winter. The kitchen is Tuscan-led, the wine list is correct, the regulars include three generations of the same families. The garden is the reason to come.

Book the garden table four weeks ahead for the summer lunch, take the prosciutto and the homemade pasta. The winter dinner is the panelled room with the candles.
