Hôtel d'Angleterre Geneva

The smaller, more personal address on the Quai du Mont-Blanc, with the bar that holds the local crowd at six.

The Angleterre is the small house on the quay — forty-five rooms, run with a more residential feel than its larger neighbours, the bar that Genevans actually use. Leopold's pours one of the better Negronis in town and the regulars at the end of the counter are the kind of regulars you want a hotel bar to have.

The lake-view rooms are smaller than at the Beau-Rivage or the Bergues but the price reflects it. Book it when the brief is two nights in town, an early dinner at Windows, drinks at Leopold's, and out by ten the next morning.

Book it for the short stay on the quay.
