Beau-Rivage Geneva

Family-owned since 1865, still the address on the Quai du Mont-Blanc and still the one the old Geneva houses choose.

The Beau-Rivage has been run by the same family for one hundred and sixty years and the continuity shows — in the service, in the corridors, in the way the lake-facing rooms are turned down. The Empress Sissi died here in 1898 and the suite carries her name; the rest of the house has been quietly updated without being rebranded, which is the entire point.

Ask for a lake-view room on a high floor and the Jet d'Eau is yours through the night. Dinner at Le Chat-Botté once, breakfast on the terrace whenever the weather allows. The address Camille books for private bankers who prefer to be recognised at the desk rather than greeted.

Book it for the long weekend in town.
