Casa Lucio

Calle Cava Baja — the late-night table for the political class, the bullfighters and the visiting royalty, and the home of the huevos estrellados.

Casa Lucio is the late-table of political Madrid — Lucio Blázquez opened the door in 1974 and the room has fed every prime minister, every bullfighter and every visiting head of state since. The huevos estrellados — fried eggs broken over crisped potatoes, sometimes with chistorra, sometimes with jamón — is the dish that became famous outside Spain, and it remains the order on the first visit.

Book the front room at 22h30 for the energy. Huevos to start, lamb from the wood oven, a bottle from the Rioja list. Lucio passed in 2023; the family runs the room with the same discipline.

Book it late for the huevos and the room.
