Koi opened at the Bryant Park Hotel in 2005 — the LA original transposed intact, the sushi counter on the ground floor, the dining room with the long banquette, the format that handles the fashion-week visitor better than most of the hotels' own restaurants. The kitchen remains the most consistent Japanese on the western edge of Bryant Park.
Book the dining room at eight, take the seared toro with truffle, the wagyu carpaccio, the Kobe beef sliders. The address is the right answer for the midtown dinner that needs the LA register without the flight.
