La Fontelina is the most photographed beach club in the Mediterranean and one of the few that delivers on the photograph. The Arcucci family has run it since 1960 — same loungers, same striped umbrellas, same kitchen with the spaghetti alle vongole at one o'clock. You arrive either by the path down from Punta Tragara or by the small boat from Marina Piccola; both have their charm.
Book your lounger the morning of through the hotel; pre-booking is impossible. Take the 5pm boat back to Marina Piccola rather than the climb up — the path in late afternoon sun is more punishing than it looks.
Book it for the Faraglioni at golden hour.
