Le Corbusier designed the building in 1920 as a private villa and the architectural bones are still there — the pink ochre façade, the cantilevered terraces, the perfect framing of the three rocks. Every room sees the Faraglioni. You can walk down to La Fontelina in fifteen minutes through the lemon gardens; the climb back up is real but the funicular operators at the pier will run you up if you ask.
