Matignon is the Costes operation on the avenue of the same name — a brasserie upstairs that runs the long polished dinner, a basement club that takes over from 23h and runs through to 05h. The combination is the address that the 8e crowd has kept on the short list since the room opened, and the only restaurant-club hybrid in the arrondissement that the door treats as one operation.
Book the round banquette upstairs for the dinner at 21h, take the steak frites or the daurade, drink the cold Provençal rosé. Stay downstairs for the second set — the room is the right answer for the Friday evening that does not need a second venue.
