- 10-minute walk from the car park over the dune
- No services — bring water, towels and a hat
- Best in morning, light wind by 11am
- Topless tolerated, dogs not allowed
Saline is the beach with no hotel on it and no infrastructure. You park at the old salt-pond, walk five minutes over the dune, and the sand opens out in front of you for half a kilometre with nothing on it but the occasional yacht in the bay beyond. The contrast with the rest of the island's beaches is the whole proposition.
Go before 11am for the calm. Pack water, an umbrella and lunch from L'Isoletta in Gustavia. The walk back across the dune in midday sun is the only annoyance.
Book it for the morning swim with nothing in the view.
