The fields lie behind Gassin, on the inland slope that drops gently toward La Croix-Valmer — eight grounds, a practice arena, sixty-five hectares. The clubhouse terrace, on a Sunday afternoon during the July tournament, is one of the more beautiful lunches in the Var, and one of the more discreet. The crowd is the same crowd as on the boats moored at Pampelonne an hour earlier.
For the rest of the season, the practice chukkers run Tuesday and Friday late afternoons. Members and invited guests. Camille handles the introductions.
Book it for the second Sunday of July.
