9/11 Memorial & Museum

The Michael Arad twin pools on the Twin Tower footprints — the Snøhetta pavilion, the museum underneath, the city's most considered memorial.

The 9/11 Memorial occupies the footprints of the original Twin Towers — Michael Arad's twin reflecting pools with the water cascading into the void at the centre, the Snøhetta entry pavilion, the museum on the lower level with the artefacts and the historical record handled at proper scale. The memorial is the most considered public project of the last twenty years in the city.

Visit the memorial first at the open plaza level for the architectural reading, take the museum after with two hours and the audio guide. The address is the only proper way to read the city at the point the historical record makes the visit a non-negotiable.

The memorial the city has built.
