The Filali family's first property was a 17th-century private home in Old Lecce — a tribute to their grandmother, the artist Antonia Fiermonte, whose life moved between Puglia, Paris, and Morocco. The Ocean property, which opened in 2022 on the wild coast between Larache and Tangier, is the Moroccan half of that biography made physical. It sits in a regional park facing the open Atlantic, with the Rif hills behind and very little else.
What La Fiermontina Ocean offers is less a spa sequence than a landscape curriculum. The hammam is not on the property — it is a 300-square-metre structure in the village of Dchier, held separately so that guests walk through the community to reach it, past the herb gardens and the cooperative stalls. The horses work the Atlantic shore at the pace the terrain allows. The surf school is literal, on the beach in front of the suites. The restaurant runs Italian and Moroccan together — pasta and preserved lemon, the two inheritances held without apology. A property at this scale either has complete conviction about what it is or it does not survive. This one has it.
